Visita a la Lonja

Nuestro grupo tenía el tema de pecados, monstruos y el infierno. La mayoría de las esculturas de estos temas eran gárgolas, orientadas tanto al interior del claustro como a la calle. Nos ha llamado la atención el hecho de que muchas esculturas estaban medio escondidas entre motivos vegetales en las ventanas y los marcos de las puertas. La mayoría de imágenes eran bastante explícitas y algunas hasta vulgares. Pensamos que así conseguían impactar al espectador o espectadora medieval para alejarlos del pecado y escandalizarlos. Aunque nos ha costado fotografiar todas las esculturas (algunas estaban a una altura considerable) nos hemos esforzado y ahora tenemos una visión más amplia del arte medieval.

Our group had the theme of sins, monsters and hell. The great part of these sculptures were  gargoyles, at the inside and outside of the building. We found interesting the fact that many sculptures were hidden with vegetal motives in the windows and at the door frames. the great parte of the images were easy to understand and a few of them a bit vulgar. We think thta maybe this way they were able to draw the spectators' attention or to remove them from the sin and to scandalize them. It wans't easy to take pictures of all of the sculptures 8due to their height) but we have put lots of effort and now we have a wider vision of the medieval art.
